CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPE PAINTINGS
Artistic expression is the need to complete a relationship with something outside of yourself. It is a way to explore how life is perceived, and the philosophical view of life that develops from that. This requires the desire to not only "connect" with something, but to go beyond in a manner that "completes the circle".
Over the years I have explored various themes and styles of painting, but I always return to the landscape. Nature is a never ending source of inspiration and delight. Landscape painting has a long history both in Western and Chinese art. Within that context, the word landscape has traditionally referred to wide panoramic views. My desire is to create "intimate" landscapes that draw the viewer in, focusing on the spiritual connection that we can experience with nature.
My work has been exhibited in both group and solo shows, primarily on the West Coast (California, Washington and Oregon). It has also been featured in Art Buzz, a juried annual publication showcasing contemporary visual artists.
