Artistic expression is the need to complete a relationship with something outside of yourself. It is a way to explore how life is perceived, and the philosophical view of life that develops from that. This requires awareness, interest, and the desire to not only "connect" with something, but to go beyond in a manner that "completes the circle".
In a world increasingly pervaded by technology, I have been drawn to natural themes. Nature is a grounding place where insight and creativity can flourish.
Traditional oil paint is my primary medium. However, in addition to brushes I'm just as likely to use rags, combs, sponges, oil pastels and my hands to make marks and move paint around on the canvas. I like to spend time working the surfaces and building up rich layers.
My work has been exhibited in both group and solo shows, primarily on the West Coast (California, Washington and Oregon). It has also been featured in Art Buzz, a juried annual publication showcasing contemporary visual artists.
